Vikt\u00f3ria Ferenc, MEP for Fidesz\u2013KDNP and member of the Patriots for Europe Group, welcomed the decision, stressing that the vote sends a clear political message: Europe must strengthen its own pharmaceutical supply and industrial capacities.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>In her speech, the MEP pointed out that misguided decisions in recent years and the vulnerability of global supply chains have left Europe exposed in the field of strategically important medicines. \u201cPatient safety can only be guaranteed if we strengthen production in Europe, support investments, and act through concrete decisions rather than slogans,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n<p>Vikt\u00f3ria Ferenc emphasized that the security of pharmaceutical supply cannot be ensured through excessive or ideological regulation. Europe\u2019s pharmaceutical industry needs reasonable, proportionate and predictable environmental and industrial rules that protect the environment, guarantee supply for citizens and strengthen the sector\u2019s competitiveness.<\/p>\n\n<p>The MEP also recalled that Hungary ranks third in the European Union in terms of GDP-proportionate corporate pharmaceutical research and development spending. \u201cThe key to Europe\u2019s supply security lies in recognising and protecting strong and innovative national pharmaceutical hubs such as Hungary,\u201d she emphasised.<\/p>\n\n<p>\u201cEurope can only protect its patients if it relies on its own industry, reduces bureaucracy, and puts common sense ahead of ideologies. We welcome the fact that Commissioner Oliv\u00e9r V\u00e1rhelyi has come forward with a legislative proposal built on these principles, which the European Parliament can further strengthen.
