At yesterday evening\u2019s plenary session of the European Parliament, Vikt\u00f3ria Ferenc, MEP of Fidesz\u2013KDNP and member of the Patriots for Europe group, emphasized in her one-minute speech: \u201cAlthough Commissioner Marta Kos claims that Ukraine has completed its “homework” and urges the opening of the EU accession negotiation clusters, the situation of national minorities in Ukraine remains unresolved. The \u201chomework\u201d \u2014 the so-called \u201celeven points\u201d set out in Ukraine\u2019s negotiation framework document \u2014 and, more broadly, the Copenhagen criteria, have not yet been fulfilled.\u201d<\/p>\n\n
\u201cCommissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos recently visited Ukraine, where she also met with representatives of national minorities. Today, I took the floor to point out that at that meeting, those representatives who genuinely stand up for the rights of the Hungarian community in Transcarpathia were silenced and denied the opportunity to speak!\u201d \u2014 emphasized the MEP of Transcarpathian origin.<\/p>\n\n
Vikt\u00f3ria Ferenc added: \u201cMeanwhile, the EU criticizes Hungary for its policy of protecting national minorities. Yet it is Brussels that, driven by its geopolitical interests, sacrifices its own Copenhagen principles without hesitation and seeks to rewrite the current decision-making rules of the accession process, thereby jeopardizing the sovereignty of its own Member States. We cannot allow this!\u201d<\/p>\n\n
