On the occasion of World Mental Health Day, Members of the European Parliament today debated the current situation within the European Union. Viktória Ferenc, Fidesz MEP from Transcarpathia and member of the Patriots for Europe group, drew attention to the impact of both the coronavirus pandemic and the Russia–Ukraine war on mental health. “The pursuit of peace is a political stance that stems from the deepest desire of the Hungarians in Transcarpathia,” she pointed out.
Speaking on the 958th day of the conflict, Viktória Ferenc highlighted the horrors of war and their consequences. “By now, almost everyone has a family member or acquaintance who has been lost in the war or has become disabled,” she emphasized. The loss of basic security creates fear and anxiety, which is why restoring peace as soon as possible is of utmost importance.
According to the MEP, striving for peace is a political position that reflects the fundamental yearning for peace among Europeans as well. “We must stand for peace!” she declared.
